The goal of this project was to create a handmade sort of magazine, that could be about anything we are interested in or passionate about. We didn't have many requirements, just to have a variety of stuff in it, and for it to be our own interest; personal to me.
The 21st century skill that I think goes with this project is self directional skills. The project was very open ended, so I had to come up with almost all of the ideas of what to do myself. We were given tips and a list of stuff we were told to choose from that we had to do, like adding a collage or an essay, but the actual idea of what to do came from myself. I also had to do the majority of work at home, so completing it and time spacing was entirely on myself as well.
I'm pretty proud of how my zine turned out. I wish I could have added more, but at one point the staple wasn't stapling all the pages together due to the thickness, so I had to call it. I wish zines were still really popular and that I knew more people interested in reading a superhero zine, because if there were I'd probably make more. I liked my idea of associating movies with songs. I do that a lot in my head anyway.
If I could go back and do the project again I think I would do it quite differently. While I like how it turned out, it didn't end up how I originally planned it to be, mostly because I realized I wouldn't be able to fit everything I wanted to fit. So now that I know, I'd add more stuff, and probably take some of the things I didn't like as much away. One other thing I would do differently is spacing the time I worked on this project better. Our teacher suggested we start this project over break, but I was on a trip so I didn't have time. After that I had barely two weeks, and I was busy over that weekend and didn't have much time to work on it then either. So I would probably want to work on it during a period where I actually did have time.
