Subject: Field Ecology
Facilitator/Teacher: Ms Cassie
This was the first project I had in Field Ecology. Every person in the class had a different time period of Earth that they researched and made a slides presentation on. The time period I had was the Cenozioc Era; the era we are currently living in or otherwise known as the era of the mammals. I really enjoyed this project because it helped me better understand how the Earth ended up how it is now.
A 21st Century Skill that represents this project is Information Skills. I had to find reliable articles and resources on my own, and understand the information given to me well enough to retell what I learned in my own words. I know more on how to find reliable sources now than I did before doing this project, which therefore means that I definitely improved in this skill as well.
I am most proud of the information I learned and understood for this project. I like how my presentation turned out and I am glad I learned more about the geological history of the Earth. Finding accurate information was also the most difficult part of this project, as I wanted to make sure I was giving correct information to my peers when presenting, but I think I did well on that part in the end. I would spend more time learning about my Era if I could do this project again because while I feel like I had enough for it, I still could have learned more. Besides, I did find my Era and the other Era’s interesting. This project reminded me of learning about Earth’s history briefly in 8th grade, and it was the segway into what we were learning in Ecology class for the year.
